Some members of the congregation at Christ Church Ottershaw have set themselves the challenge to each produce just one bin's worth of rubbish during the six weeks of Lent. This blog is a record of our efforts.

This is the Pashley rubbish bin as at3pm Friday 2nd March
Davis family not quite this empty but still less than our normal weekly amount. The slim bin/bin sin regime is taking some getting used to with a variety of named containers around the house. Getting annoyed by all the plastic which is apparently unrecyclable, at least in Runnymede. Thinking about saving up all the plastic fruit and veg punnets, bottle tops, plastic trays, etc and taking a photo of what I imagine will be a big pile at the end of the 40 days and sending that to the newspaper too asking why neither the Borough Council nor the supermarkets can recycle it. Alternatively, we could all become very creative and build a monstrous sculpture with it...in front of the council offices?
